Embroidery Styles & Options

Fine-tune the weight, texture, and finish of your patch.

50 percent thread coverage embroidered patch showing partial fabric background

50% Thread Coverage

The colored twill fabric background is visible. This keeps the patch flexible and lighter.

75 to 100 percent thread coverage embroidered patch with full dense stitching

75-100% Thread Coverage

The entire surface is stitched with thread. Heavier, stiffer, and more premium feel.

3d puff embroidered patch showing cartoon bunny from back with beige body, white tail, red-outlined ears on pink circular background

3D Puff Embroidery

We insert a foam layer under the stitching to raise the design. Ideal for block letters on caps.

Embroidered blue bee patch featuring metallic gold thread wings and a crown, embellished with pearl beads on the body.

Metallic Threads

Uses a wire-core thread for a reflective shine. Note: It’s coarser than rayon; small text becomes hard to read.

Custom die-cut embroidered patch in an irregular shield shape, featuring a basketball, an eagle head, and gold text reading Eagles.

Custom Shapes

We aren’t limited to circles. We cut to the contour of your logo, shield, or mascot.

Backing Options for Custom Embroidered Patches

Sew-On (Most Durable)

Plastic seal added for stiffness.
The only permanent option for industrial laundering.

Factory Insight: The ‘Marine Layer’ Issue

If you work near the water—whether it’s Naval Base San Diego or a surf shop in Ocean Beach—humidity and salt air are the enemies of glue.

Iron-on backing is fine for a weekend event, but if this is for a daily-wear uniform, sew it on.

The moisture in the air will eventually cause the adhesive corners to lift. Don’t rely on glue alone in this climate.

Borders & Finishing

Merrowed Border

? A thick, overlocked thread edge that wraps around the patch. The industry standard for preventing frayed edges on simple shapes.

Laser-Cut Edge

? We use a laser to cut the patch, cauterizing the thread ends. Required for complex shapes with sharp inner angles.

Stitched Border

? A simple satin stitch that sits flat on the patch surface. Used when you want the border to look like part of the design, not a frame.

How We Price Embroidered Patches

We do not use flat rates. Price is driven by machine time and material consumption.

What Moves the Needle

Size

Larger patches take up more space on the loom. More material = higher cost.

Stitch Count (Density)

A logo with 100% thread coverage takes twice as long to stitch as 50%. Machine time drives the price.

Backing Type

Velcro and Sew-On plastic backings add a manual step to the finishing process.

Quantity = Biggest Savings

Machine setup is fixed whether we make 10 patches or 1,000. Buying in bulk spreads that cost out.

The economy of scale kicks in at 50 pieces.

For most runs, the minimum is 50 pieces. Setup costs make smaller runs expensive per unit.

How long does production take?

7 to 14 days after you approve the digital proof.

Can you match brand colors?

Yes. We match to the nearest standard Pantone (PMS) thread code.

What is the best backing for uniforms?

Sew-On with plastic backing. Factory Note: Iron-on glue fails in San Diego humidity. Velcro is best for tactical gear (MCAS Miramar/32nd St).

Do you deliver across San Diego?

Yes. We ship via UPS/FedEx to every zip code, from Carlsbad to Chula Vista.
